CALLING ALL NORTH EAST GIRL GEEKS
ANNOUNCEMENT: AT LAST! IT’S ARRIVED! GIRL GEEK DINNERS LAUNCHES FIRST EVENT IN THE NORTH EAST – JUNE 2009
TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION & GEEKS ARE TERMS NO LONGER USED TO JUST REFERENCE OUR MALE EQUALS – WOMEN LIKE ALL THINGS TECH TOO!
Want to dine, drink, network with executive women from across the north east and discuss technology at a sumptuous north east venue?
Share your knowledge, experience and wisdom with like-minded women.
Durham
Girl Geek Dinners is a north east based, fun and friendly professional
community for women and girls interested in technology, innovations,
entrepreneurialism, creativity and computing.
Our aim is to bring technology innovation to the north east.
Durham Girl Geek Dinners is a great opportunity for women (and on occasion men) to share thoughts, experiences and wisdom surrounding technology today and help revolutionise tomorrow.
We want to make technology accessible and interesting to all age groups and all people… no matter what culture or ability.
We hope you will come along and join our fun networking opportunity for like-minded women to get together, dine, drink and discuss technology.
Speakers:
· Kim Inglis (former Tyne Tees TV presenter and reporter now working as a freelance journalist and media trainer/speaker) www.kiminglistv.com will be our host for the evening.
· Fiona Cruickshank, Owner/Director of SCM Pharma based in Prudhoe, Northumberland and was the founder of The Specials Laboratory, the only North East company to break into The Times Fast Track 100 - a list of Britain’s fastest growing private companies.
· Clare Hart, Executive Vice President of Dow Jones will be a ‘virtual’ speaker for the evening. Although Clare Hart is not in the UK around the time of our launch event she is very enthusiastic about what we are doing and will be recording a dedicated presentation that will be shown on the night. Clare worked her way up to be the current VP of Dow Jones in the States and is also a great example for women in business and tech.
· UK technical director from Eset www.eset.co.uk leading global antivirus and security software developer and provider whose solutions prevents network penetration, malware and hackers will be speaking to you about online threats and will be on hand to answer questions.

Support from you:
Our aim of the Girl Geeks Dinners is to keep the networking events neutral with no single company or entity dominating, where everyone shares and benefits from the events and fellow members in addition to supporting as many companies, individuals and organisations across the north east and beyond as possible.
We encourage all Girl Geeks to bring along literature and business cards regarding their own company and/or cause as well as details and examples of new and exciting technologies, innovations and concepts to share at each event.
Spread the word and enjoy Girl Geek Dinners.

What is a Girl Geek Dinner?
Girl Geek: Someone who is female and has an interest in technology,
particularly innovation, computing and new media.
Not necessarily technically minded.
The Girl Geek Dinners are organised all over the world. They are great fun and
provide a welcoming atmosphere for women to talk about technology in an
informal environment.
There will be a speaker who talks for a short while on a chosen subject and/or a demonstration of a latest innovation in technology for the event.
Girl Geek Dinners are for the girls! But it doesn't mean that men can't attend, they just have to come as the guest of a female.
